It's time to get re-acquainted!!....

I feel panic coming on!!..

I was asked quite a few months ago to donate a quilt for my niece's school as a raffle prize for a Garden Expo that the town they live in hold annually. This is the 18th year of the Expo and it is a HUGE event for the whole town...
I was happy to oblige and the quilt was finished early last month and sent away for the photo shoot for advertising, and tour of the town for ticket selling...

.... Job Done !!! ....

but

The Organising Committee approached me after they received the quilt and offered a site for me to showcase my items as the Expo also has a large craft market side...

I must admit I did think initially that I would thank them for the offer but politely decline.
I have never done a craft market or stall or craft expo...and it just seemed so overwhelming.......
what with working part time, family commitments, deciding to build a new house, and just life in general, there didn't seem to be enough hours in the day to make anything to take with me!

I had lunch with my girlfriend for her birthday..... we spent most of the time chatting about this, and she was just SO excited for me, full of offers to help, and travel with me on the day, that I decided that I would accept the committee's offer. Her excitement was catching!!! :)

I have had lists made for weeks of things that I could create...... been shopping for "stuff" that I need, planning travel and accommodation ... more planning and lists....... as it's to far to come home if I forget something!!!....
I always try to be really organised but somehow August is slipping past so fast! Where did this month go?
and I have had weeks and weeks to start sewing.... and how much have I done....nothing!....

.....so.....

It's time to re-acquainted with my Janome!!!.... :)

It has been a while since I have sat and spent any real quality time at my sewing machine but the time has come!
I have more time up my sleeve now...
and I have approx 6 weeks to get my act together!

Have you ever done craft markets or stalls??
Any tips or hints for me would be gratefully received!!!
I think that I could use all the help that I can get!!!

Happy Quilting

Thanks so much for your kind words hon. Rachel is so very precious and am enjoying every moment with her. Thanks for thinking of us. ox Ali, Take care hon and enjoy your stall, I have done HEAPS of markets and it always pays to prepare well, organise your display before you actually get there and if it helps take pics of your mock up so setting up will be a breeze on the day. Most of all enjoy yourself. ox

Hi Glenda, You must be pretty busy and pretty stressed out too! I have done a couple of stalls and all I can say is take as much diverse stuff as you can and plenty of cards or leaflets if you want to advertise yourself. You'll be amazed at how quickly they go. I'm sure you will make some regular customers from this. Don't forget a pretty table cloth to as presentation is important. The local paper may want to take a pic of your stall! Thanks for stopping by too, re my house its progressing very slowly, still getting builders quotes, will post some pics when there is some development. See you are thinking of building too..how exciting for you. Keep us updated, Take care, Maryann

Hi Glenda,
Very good advise from Ali and Maryann
Also don't think it's unusual leaving things till the last minute - we've been doing markets for eight plus years and I still find myself cramming in those extras the night before - don't stress too much though - whatever's meant to be will be!
All I can say is Good Luck and don't forget your camera so you can give up a full report of your day

Hi Glenda how exciting for you. Just relax and I'm sure it will come all together. Stressing doesn't help. Who am I to give advice I'm the biggest stress head.....lol. Thanks for your lovely comment about Julia's quilt she is so excited about everyone seeing her quilt. She keeps bugging me to start the next one. Good luck and get sewing and post some pics of your creations in progress. Take care Carol
